Reece Recommends Ollie

I came up to Sydney on June 16th 2008 for a 5 day introductory Hunter Express sales bootcamp. From my preliminary knowledge of the Hunter Bootcamp, I was expecting much of the emphasis of our 5 days together to be on sales methodology and the C.R.E.A.T.E process.

Over this 5-day course, we did spend a large amount of time covering sales methodology, however all of this knowledge was put sharply into focus by the first day, where we covered the philosophy of learning.

Central to this philosophy, is the idea that true learning cannot occur, until there is a distinct recognition that there is something you do not know and wish to know. This process, represented by the acronym of L.E.A.R.N, comprehensively covered the notion of acquiring knowledge, understanding and wisdom, whilst also looking at how we develop viewpoints, attitudes and behaviours due to the patterns in which we learn and process data.

This was much more analytical than I had expected, however it was a great learning curve and made the 5-day course a thoroughly interesting and changing experience.

There were 3 aspects of the course in particular that will stay with me always. The first notion is being in the moment, or “BE CONSCIOUS”. While this sounds simplistic, it became obvious that much of my life is lived on an unconscious level, where everything I learn is filed away into my unconscious mind and only used when some other event brings it into my universe.

The notion of being conscious is basically about doing everything deliberately and really engaging work, clients or whatever it is I am doing, NOW. Being conscious also illuminated the element of time management, where doing ONE thing at a time and ONE thing only, and doing it well with 100% of your attention, affords you the opportunity to manage your time more effectively.

The second aspect of the course that stayed with me is CONFRONTING FEAR. Identifying that fear is a direct consequence of a past negative experience, and understanding that we create the barriers in our lives, became a central focus of the week. The idea that courage is simply the recognition of fear and how to go about overcoming it, was also something I had not encountered before. Watching Ollie’s DVD on fear was a tremendous learning experience.

The third aspect of the course that I really enjoyed was connecting with people. As Mark Hunter reinforced, CONNECT is a central aspect of everything we do in life. It’s how we make friends, establish relationships and form families. In a sales scenario, it is crucial that you establish credibility and rapport, and that can only be achieved if you are prepared to connect.
While this course has sales at its core, all of the advice had real life relevance. Connecting with people, being interested, not interesting and being attentive and “in the moment” were very important aspects of the course. It is excellent advice, and will ensure that every person to person scenario that I engage in, both professionally and socially, will engage the notion of CONNECT.

I was particularly fortunate to do the course on my own, one on one with Ollie. At all times I found Ollie to be engaging, entertaining and thoroughly knowledgeable. I respected his forthright observations and was thoroughly impressed by how comprehensively he presented his course.

My personal and professional goals, which became even clearer in my mind as the week progressed, I have NO DOUBT, will be aided immeasurably by spending a week with Ollie. The course will act as a fantastic reference point for me moving forward as a person and as a sales representative.

I highly recommend Ollie Lind, whether it is for a sales bootcamp or any other aspect of his excellent life-coaching course. As a new member at Hunter Express, there couldn’t be a more professional or impressive introduction to the company.

Kind Regards,

Reece
