Have you ever had a sequence of events happen to convince you the has united against you? It seems that, no matter what you do, the opposite to what you want seems to occur.

What about this for such a sequence. Firstly, my e-mail seemed to play up. It would send one message and not another. If I tried to forward an e-mail it would work for the first one and then would come the dreaded message. “Windows has encountered..blah blah ..and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience etc.” You get the idea. Inconvenienced? Why would I be inconvenienced?

Then my dial up refused to work. It would tell me I was connected and then when I tried to look up a site, any site, it would tell me I was offline. I would try to reconnect and it would tell me I was already online. Try that for size.

Then my computer had a tiff with my modem. I can only assume that was the case because it started to play no speaks. I deleted the modem and reinstalled it, several times. Apparently sometime during this period they kissed and made up, because it started to work again.

With a sigh of relief I started a fairly major printing job that was way overdue. My printer then had a paper jam. I cleared it. (So I thought, but who am I to assume I know anything.) This next time it really got jammed and I had to jimmy the paper out. The printer then decided that it was jammed permanently and simply turned up its toes.

I took it to a recommended repairer last Thursday and arranged to speak with them sometime Friday. I was travelling to Melbourne that day and wasn’t going to be back untill Friday evening. I had to send the work I wanted to print to another computer and have it printed there.

I didn’t hear from the mechanic on Frioday and so lost any chance of doing anything at home in terms of printing. On the Monday (I spoke with the mechanic and it seems the printer troubles are terminal.) I had apparently damaged the printer when clearing the jam and the cost of repair is prohibitive. I didn’t know that abusing the thing would hurt its feelings so much.

I now have to buy a new printer and lose more time and money.

It got me to thinking. Where is the problem? Is it me? Is it the ?

Then I realised. It doesn’t matter. THe only thing that matters is how I respond to it and deal with the situation.

I didn’t get so much done on the weekend. But I did have a good break and am refreshed. I have to get a new printer. It gives me the opportunity to upgrade. I have learnt a great deal about installing modems I didn’t know before. Most important. I feel good.

Perhaps, when the seems to be against you it might simply be the offering you a . Stay my friends.

Regards,

Ollie
